Deepak manages Aarin Capital set-up in January 2012. He helps founders grow and create value from ideation through exit. Deepak also structures, sets-up &raises capital for Aarin’s funds and start-ups.
Aarin has invested in 30 covering molecular research, implantables, diagnostics, medical devices, mobile-medicine, gene testing, test-prep & tablet based platforms, software products and select e- commerce ideas in India & overseas. Aarin prides in being entrepreneur-friendly and for creating sustained long-term value.
Early 2008 through early 2010, Deepak was CFO at a Sequoia funded tech start-up, which exited to a leading mid-tier IT outsourcer. Mid-2000 to early 2008, at Infosys, he headed strategic initiatives and was Chief Risk Officer. He oversaw +$100m deployed in acquisitions, establishing a business- consulting practice. He ran pricing for large outsourcing deals with multiple successes and also implemented SoX404. He started his career in audit and business advisory services in early 1990 with the Big Four.
Aarin, directly or through its funds, invests in enterprise IT, Digital Media, Financial Services, mobile/social/consumer, listed mid-cap equities, equity derivatives, women-centric entrepreneurship and PIPEs.
Aarin is the proprietary institutional fund of Dr Ranjan Pai (Manipal Education & Medical Group – MEMG), and Mohandas Pai (Chief Advisor – Manipal Group, Board Member, formerly of Infosys),
both having strong successful entrepreneurial streaks, which manifests in Aarin’s investment style.
Deepak is an honors Commerce graduate from Delhi University and is a Chartered Accountant (1989). He is also a charter member – TiE, Bangalore. His interests are science fiction, travel, golf and yoga. Deepak himself invests privately and works closely with founders helping them build their businesses.
